The ruins of Copán are located in western Honduras, 184 kilometers from the city of San Pedro Sula (a 2.5 hour drive) and 438 kilometers from the nation’s capital, Tegucigalpa.

The village of Copán Ruinas (pop. 7,000) lies just a kilometer west of the archaeological site, and offers hotels, hostels, B&Bs, restaurants in a traditional setting.
