Completed Projects – Project Profuturo Copán
(1999-2003)
In 1999, the Honduran Council of Science and Technology (COHCIT) contracted the Copan Association to carry out the Pre-Hispanic legacy component of the PROFUTURO project. With World Bank financing, the Copan Association completed four main components:
1. Science: Investigate the environment and evolution of the Copán Valley for the last 4,000 years
2. Education: Impart current information about the Maya to the townspeople and visitors via interactive exhibits (link to Casa K’inich)
3. Integration: Connect the human population of the Copán Valley with regional cultural resources
4. Training: Train Honduran scientists and technicians in all program areas
